Maximising long-term potential of commercial land and development opportunities
Our commercial activities make up around half our 6,000 acre land bank by value. We generate value through remediation, planning gain, development and asset management. We then retain these assets until we decide the time is right to dispose of certain schemes to maximise value uplift, which provides recycled capital for new acquisition and development opportunities.
Our commercial development activities cover retail, leisure, education, office and industrial projects. Be it a new town centre, a business or technology park, vital local education or leisure facilities as part of a broader residential development, all go a long way in providing an essential boost to the economy, improving the environment and creating better places for people to live, work and relax.
Across our retained portfolio of commercial assets we look after 1,700 tenants ranging from multinational businesses to sole traders. The diversity of this portfolio helps us to avoid over exposure to a single scheme, tenant or sector.
