St Modwen to redevelop former Stoke City Council Unity House HQ

St Modwen Developments Ltd, the development subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC, has exchanged contracts for the redevelopment of Unity House, the former headquarters of Stoke-on-Trent City Council at Hanley.

The 18-storey Unity House built in the 1970s and vacated by the city council some years ago is to be demolished and replaced by 2,415 sq m (26,000 sq ft) of retail accommodation including a supermarket for which a planning application is being prepared.

A start on site is expected to be made by the late summer.
