BRIDGE RETAIL PARK, RUNCORN, SET TO OPEN

Homebase, the UK¹s second largest home improvements retailer, is nearing completion of its fit-out at St Modwen's recently completed Bridge Retail Park, Runcorn, Cheshire.

The 30,000 sq ft store includes a 10,000 sq ft garden centre and is opening this month in readiness to capitalise on the post-Christmas period.

Homebase has taken a 15-year lease on the premises at an initial rent of £240,000 a year.

In addition to Homebase, St Modwen has agreed terms on the remaining 9,000 sq ft unit with a national retailer.

Paul Batho of St Modwen, said: "Bridge Retail Park is a superb location with direct each-way access off The Runcorn Expressway. This site took many years to bring to fruition because it was a serious brownfield site and there was extensive ground remediation and other regeneration issues to resolve.

"Looking at the site today, however, the passer-by would not even be aware of all that work and sees an impeccable store in a great location. I am confident that Homebase will be a great addition to Runcorn's retail offer."
