BOGNOR REGIS REGENERATION: PUBLIC EXHIBITION ANNOUNCED

16 January 2008

Following the signing of the Development Agreement with Arun District Council in December, St Modwen is embarking upon extensive, community-wide public consultation to help inform its proposals for the Regis Centre and Hothamton sites in Bognor Regis town centre.
As part of the consultation process, a public exhibition to view the initial design concepts has been announced.

This will be held at Bognor Regis Methodist Church, Waterloo Square, Bognor Regis, PO21 1ST, on the following dates:
Thursday 24 January 2008 - 2pm-9pm
Friday 25 January 2008 - 9am-3pm
Saturday 26 January 2008 - 10am-4pm

At the exhibition, members of the community will be able to view the proposals and feedback thoughts and ideas through a community questionnaire. Representatives from St Modwen and the design team - including the architect and transport consultants - will be available to answer any questions and listen to people's views.

Gary Morris, Senior Development Manager of St Modwen, comments:
“We are delighted that having signed the Development Agreement we are now able to present our emerging scheme ideas to the community. This is the first chance we have had to communicate directly with the public since the ‘Developer Selection’ exhibition in May 2006, and we hope that people will be excited by what is presented.

A number of the principle uses for the site have been set, following Arun District Council’s previous public consultation, which subsequently led to the adopted Development Brief. However, some aspects of the schemes including initial design concepts, location and height/density of buildings, plus public realm use and landscape design will be presented for consultation and public feedback will be sought. We are very much looking forward to working closely with the community to develop the proposals and hope that local residents will come along to the exhibition and give us their views."

Once the feedback from this preliminary public consultation has been assessed by the design team, the proposals will be amended to reflect the best possible design solutions. Further public consultation on the amended proposals will take place in April 2008.

A new website has also been launched to provide updates on progress and a central point of information for the community: www.stmodwen-bognorregis.co.uk.
