HATFIELD TOWN CENTRE REVISED PROPOSALS EXHIBITED - 500 people attend public exhibition to view revised planning application
15 February 2010
The revised planning application for the Hatfield Town Centre redevelopment was exhibited at a public event held last Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday 13, February. St. Modwen welcomed around 500 people across the three-day exhibition, discussing the plans at length and listening to constructive comments on the proposals. Overall, the feedback from local residents and businesses was very positive; with people liking the revised design and functionality of the scheme, in particular, the High Street concept. Rupert Wood, Regional Director at St. Modwen, comments: “The turnout to the exhibition last week was good and it is really encouraging to see so many people taking an interest in this important project. We had some very positive verbal feedback from a large number of people that are eager to see the town centre regenerated. “Our overarching objective is to regenerate the town centre which will bring shoppers and visitors back to Hatfield. We want to re-create the vibrancy of a traditional High Street by improving existing retail, residential and community facilities, as well as providing a new bus interchange and taxi rank. “As explained during the exhibition, we still face some real challenges but are now at a crucial stage where, with the support of our partners and the local community, we have a scheme which we can realistically progress when funding and economic constraints allow.” |
