ST. MODWEN TO LET BUILDING WITH ROOTS IN CANNOCK’S COAL MINING HISTORY
17 May 2010
An industrial building in the heart of Cannock which has played a role in Staffordshire’s coal mining history is set to be given a new lease of life. Situated at Rumer Hill Industrial Estate off Rumer Hill Road, a vacant 24,116 sq ft office/ industrial building is being marketed by the UK’s leading regeneration specialist St. Modwen, via local property agents Andrew Dixon & Company. A new occupier is being sought for the building that dates back to 1933, when it was first used as shower/ bath block at the pit head of the Mid Cannock Mine. In more recent years, the building has been utilised by information protection and storage firm Iron Mountain to house documentation relating to the coal industry, including medical records for compensation claims. The building is now available to let immediately. Julie Rossiter, senior asset manager for St. Modwen, said: “Cannock has a rich industrial heritage, with coal mining dominating the town’s landscape and boosting the regional economy at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, many of the buildings associated with the industry remain in existence and the facilities are widely utilised for a variety of commercial uses.” The building to let at Rumer Hill comprises approximately 18,616 sq ft of storage/ workshop space, together with 3,206 sq ft of offices and car parking provision for 20 vehicles. Andrew Hartley from property agents Andrew Dixon & Company, said: “This particular building at Rumer Hill Industrial Estate is part of an established industrial area within the town and it offers an occupier more flexible terms than would normally be found for a building of this size. As such we expect to see strong levels of interest in this opportunity.” Rumer Hill Industrial Estate is located on Rumer Hill Road approximately half a mile from Cannock town centre. It is also situated around half a mile from the Churchbridge junction of the A5 and junction T7 of the M6 Toll Road. |
