£16.35 million Worcester canalside retail scheme underway

St Modwen Developments Ltd, the development subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC, has started work on the first phase of its 10,219 sq m (110,000 sq ft) canalside non-food retail park at Shrub Hill, Worcester.

Seven retail units and a pub/restaurant totalling 7,710 sq m (83,000 sq ft) form the £16.35 million initial phase which has already attracted Wickes, Staples, Tiles R Us, Dreams, Wilsons Pets and Carphone Warehouse. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of November.

St Modwen’s agents Ramsdens, are marketing an unallocated unit of 929 sq m (10,000 sq ft), and a canalside pub/restaurant opportunity of up to 557 sq m (6,000 sq ft).

The current phase of the development involves re-routing a principal highway, Tallow Hill, constructing a new road bridge and improving canal towpaths – all of which are major transport proposals in the Worcester Local Plan.
