50 per cent of homes sold at Park View, Longbridge

St. Modwen Homes has sold more than 50 per cent of properties at its recently launched Park View development in Longbridge; the first new homes to be built on the site of the former MG Rover Works.

In just four months, St. Modwen Homes has seen a flurry of sales at the development, selling a total of 66 properties out of the 113 houses and apartments offered at Park View, demonstrating the pent-up demand for high quality new homes in Longbridge.

A selection of homes are now available for immediate occupation, including two bedroom houses starting from £149,500 and four bedroom houses priced from £249,500. A range of luxury one and two bedroom apartments are also available from £125,000.

The award-winning developer, which specialises in urban regeneration, reports that the majority of homes have been purchased by people already living in the area, including Lian Purnell, a former MG Rover worker who has recently purchased a four bedroom detached house.

New resident Lian Purnell said: “When I first heard about Park View, I decided to pay a visit to see whether it would be suitable for my mother to invest in a rental property. However, I immediately fell in love with the development and wanted to live there myself. The rooms are so spacious, the specification is very high and the build quality is exceptional. These really are remarkable homes.

“The other reason for feeling an instant connection with the development is because it is on the site of the former Longbridge General Office Building, where my father and grandfather worked. The show home is built on the exact location where my father used to work, whereas my new four-bedroom home is sited on the spot where my grandfather worked. I saw this as a once in a lifetime opportunity to live in a home which has such strong and unique family ties. I am moving from Bromsgrove to live at Park View, but my whole family actually grew up within walking distance of the development. My great grandmother even lived on the same road!

“I now work for an automotive component supplier, but I previously worked at Longbridge myself. It is tremendous to see the regeneration of the area take place, with a range of new development activity creating lots of different job opportunities. Local people are really supportive of what’s happening and are delighted with the high quality of the new houses and commercial buildings.”

Two fully-furnished show homes are now open to view seven days a week between 10am to 6pm, comprising a spectacular four-bedroom home and a spacious two-bedroom property, ideal for either a couple or two friends sharing, as it benefits from two double bedrooms.

Park View is the first housing development in the UK by St. Modwen Homes and it is being delivered in partnership with the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

St. Modwen has invested over £85 million at Longbridge since acquiring the 468 acre site in 2003. 660 permanent new jobs have already been created through the development of the Technology Park and Cofton Centre, new infrastructure improvements are being made, the £66 million state-of-the-art Bournville College has now opened, and work is scheduled to commence on the construction of the new Longbridge town centre before the end of the year, which will feature an 85,000 sq ft (50,000 sq ft net sales area) Sainsbury’s store.

The Park View show homes are located off Lowhill Lane, Longbridge, Birmingham, B45 8DE. More details on this new residential development can be found at www.parkview-longbridge.co.uk. To contact the St. Modwen Homes sales team please call 0844 243 4545 or email Parkview@stmodwenhomes.co.uk.
