Swansea Bay Campus

Swansea Bay Campus is a breakthrough project for us.

Working in partnership with Swansea University, it has proved our credentials in creating significant value through the transformation of land into a modern, institutional grade real estate – in this case turning a former oil site into a 21st century, internationally-acclaimed centre for academia.

The rolling programme of investment by St. Modwen into the 65-acre Bay Campus site has seen us deliver over 1m sq ft of accommodation, teaching and state-of-the-art academic and research space for over 5,000 students and 1,000 staff, including the Bay Library, restaurants, shops, the Students’ Union and the Great Hall.

Over 2000 rooms of student accommodation were built in three phases, with the most recent units opening to new students in September 2017.

The Bay Campus was awarded the RICS Wales Regeneration Project of the Year 2016 and the 2016 Building Excellence Award for Best Educational Building, recognised as one of the ‘most ambitious projects in the UK higher education sector’ (RICS 2016).

It is now one of the only campuses in the UK with direct access to the beach with its own seafront promenade.
