Supermarket chain Aldi has signed-up for a 1,161 sq m (12,500 sq ft ) store on the proposed Norton Park district centre, Stoke-on-Trent, being developed by St Modwen Developments Ltd, the development subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC.
The district centre is being created on an eight-acre site which forms part of the major reclamation of the former Norton Colliery in Leek New Road, where some 500 homes are also being built.
Construction of the Aldi store is scheduled to commence shortly with a planned opening date next Spring.
Euan Lindsay of St Modwen, said that negotiations are close to completion for a pub/restaurant and planning consent is being sought for a parade of shops with about 30 separate high quality apartments above.
“We’re also aiming to provide further local facilities in the centre including a childrens’ nursery and possible medical centre,” he added.
Richard Labett of Aldi Stores, said:”We are looking forward very much to bringing a further Aldi store to Stoke.”
