ARGOS AMONGST NEW NAMES AT EDMONTON GREEN
St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has let over 30,000 sq ft at its Edmonton Green Shopping Centre to retailers including Argos Extra, Sam 99p and Cilek. A further 9,000 sq ft is currently under offer to two national multiples, due to complete next month. Other existing retailers in the Centre include ASDA, Tesco, Peacocks, Boots, Phones 4U and Bon Marché.
These latest openings stand testament to the Centre’s ongoing success, following completion of the second phase of the £100 million redevelopment of the shopping centre at the end of last year – which added an additional 50,000 sq ft of retail and 440 car parking spaces to the scheme.
Argos Extra, part of the Home Retail Group, opened at the end of July, taking a 20,000 sq ft store on the newly developed West Mall opposite anchor tenant ASDA and will be joined by discount retailer Sam 99p which is due to open its 5600 sq ft store shortly. Turkish brand Cilek has launched its expansion into the UK with the opening of a 1500-sq ft store, selling bespoke children’s bedroom furniture and accessories.
Gary Morris, Senior Development Manager at St. Modwen commented: “Edmonton Green continues to be successful both in terms of leasing and on-going trading in spite of the economy. Its mix of leisure, retail and a great value market shows that shoppers are still drawn to centres with a good and varied offer”.
