Argos to open at Wythenshawe Centre in October
Argos, the catalogue shopping firm, has begun fitting out its 975 sq m (10,500 sq ft) new store for opening in October in the newly refurbished Wythenshawe Town Centre, Greater Manchester.
The £6 million refurbishment scheme undertaken by Redman Heenan Properties Ltd, the investment arm of St Modwen Properties PLC, has attracted many new tenants including Poundstretcher, Peacocks, Select and McDonalds.
Michelle Taylor , regional director of St Modwen, said: “Argos considered taking premises in the centre several years ago before the refurbishment but rejected the opportunity as the centre as it then was did not meet their requirements. Now they recognise the significant improvements that have taken place and we are delighted to welcome them here.
“St Modwen has carried out a recent survey on the pedestrian flow through the centre which shows that the footfall has almost trebled since the refurbishment was undertaken. With new shops continuing to open, we expect this trend to continue.”
Most of the remaining space is under offer although a 542 sq m (5,840 sq ft) unit next to Argos is still available. Johnson Fellows are letting agents for St Modwen.
