AVONMOUTH RFC SCORES A NEW SPONSOR
Local rugby club, Avonmouth Old Boys Rugby Football Club, has kicked-off its 120th season with a new pitch and a top sponsor.
Committed to supporting local communities to its developments, St. Modwen Homes has sponsored eight of the mini and junior teams, with players aged between six and 16. The sponsorship provides new kits for all 130 players.
The club also started the season with a new pitch, following a successful fundraising triathlon which raised almost £10,000 to develop an abandoned area of the King George V playing fields to a fully functional, flood lit, playing surface.
Tim Delazzari, Junior Chairman from Avonmouth Old Boys Rugby Football Club, said: “We offer a safe environment in which members can develop both sporting and social skills. It’s great to know that businesses such as St. Modwen Homes see the value that our club brings to the local community. Gaining sponsorship is vital to ensuring that we can continue to develop local talent and I would like to thank St. Modwen Homes, as well as our other sponsors, for their support.”
The club currently has 10 youth teams ranging from under sevens to under 16s, as well as two female youth teams for under 13s and under 15s. Additionally, over the past three years, the club has expanded its mini tots programme, providing basic skills and team values to children aged between three and five.
Lisa Hooper, Senior Customer Service Co-ordinator at St. Modwen Homes and under 13s girls coach at Avonmouth RFC, said: “It was great to see the children in their new kits at the weekend and see the teams in action. Watching them play, you realise just how important this club is to the children, allowing them to learn new skills and have fun with their friends. I’m sure all the teams are going to have a great season and we wish them the best of luck – we’ll be cheering them on throughout!”
A multi-award winning housebuilder, St. Modwen Homes is currently building new homes at Littlecombe in Dursley, Locking Parklands in Weston-super-Mare and Glan Llyn in Newport, with many purchasers at all three developments from or working in the Bristol area.
In the past two years, St. Modwen Homes contributed in excess of £14,000 to support junior sports teams across the country.
The show homes and marketing suites at the developments are open between 10am and 5.30pm, Thursday to Monday (including weekends).
