BOVIS HOMES BRINGS ST. MODWEN ON BOARD TO DELIVER THE COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT AT STANTON CROSS, WELLINGBOROUGH

Bovis Homes and St. Modwen are pleased to announce they have signed an agreement which appoints St. Modwen as Bovis Homes’ commercial development partner at Stanton Cross, Wellingborough.

The collaboration will enable the delivery of up to 1.55 million sq ft of commercial space across all non-residential land at Stanton Cross, equating to approx. 108 acres (44 hectares).

The development has outline consent for a mix of commercial uses including industrial and distribution, offices, retail and leisure to capitalise on the scale of Stanton Cross and its strategic location connections via the A14 and A45 to the M1, and A1(M) as well as the Midland rail mainline.

Stanton Cross is a £900 million major residential-led development which will significantly transform Wellingborough with new homes, improved infrastructure, community facilities and green open space. The development, which is being delivered by Bovis Homes, will be the largest growth Wellingborough has seen since the 1960s and will include 3,650 homes and create in excess of 3,000 jobs.

Located to the east of Wellingborough Station, the development will also provide new local centres and shops and major improvements to roads and public transport including a new, state of the art transport hub centred on the upgraded railway station, a country park, schools, and a doctor’s surgery.

Work on new infrastructure to serve Stanton Cross is already underway, including two new roads and two new bridges across the Midland Mainline and River Ise, as well as improvements to Wellingborough Railway Station by Network Rail. The first residential phase for 379 homes received detailed planning consent in October 2015 and is due to start on site this year.

Rupert Wood, Regional Director for the Northern Home Counties at St. Modwen said:

“We’re pleased to be working with Bovis Homes on what is a hugely exciting scheme for Wellingborough and the wider area. It is a major project for our growing Northern Home Counties region and will provide a significant development pipeline in an area which is seeing economic growth.

“The delivery of the commercial development elements of Stanton Cross will play an integral part in the success of the scheme creating the commercial space to create jobs for the community.  The excellent connections and the amount of commercial land to develop provides the opportunity to deliver a broad range of commercial space to meet demand from occupiers. We very much look forward to working with Bovis Homes and all the partners involved in Stanton Cross to deliver this transformational project.”

John Lougher, Bovis Homes Group Land Director responsible for Stanton Cross, said:

“We are delighted to bring St. Modwen on board to deliver the major new commercial facilities at Stanton Cross. We look forward to working alongside the St. Modwen team and creating vital new leisure, retail and office space for the area.”

The commercial development elements will be delivered by St. Modwen’s Northern Home Counties regional office based in Hemel Hempstead.

It is anticipated it will take up to 15 years to complete Stanton Cross.
