Castle Walk goes from strength to strength
Marks & Spencer, trading as Simply Food, is to open next month (Feb) in St Modwen Developments’ highly successful Castle Walk shopping scheme in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The high street retailer has taken a 4,192 sq ft unit at the centre of the pedestrianised scheme where Textiles Direct has also moved into 4,715 sq ft. Five more units are in solicitors’ hands.
St Modwen Developments, the development subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC, completed the 57,000 sq ft second phase of Castle Walk in November 2002.
Derek West of St Modwen, said: “Newcastle-under-Lyme has been restored to its rightful position as one of the principal shopping centres in the Potteries. It has been an extremely successful project.”
Craig Bales, of St Modwen’s letting agents, Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “In the past 18 months 23 units have been let and negotiations are continuing on the final three.”
