CEFN HENGOED PUPILS GET A TASTE OF LIFE BEHIND THE LENS

This week, GCSE pupils from Cefn Hengoed Community School in Winch Wen, Swansea, enjoyed a photography masterclass at the Bay Campus in preparation for entry into a new nationwide school photography competition.

The competition has been launched by St. Modwen, land owner and developer at the Bay Campus, to mark the company’s 30th year as a leading regeneration specialist.  Cefn Hengoed is just one of three schools in the Swansea Bay City Region, and just one of thirty from across the whole of the UK, handpicked to take part.  This week, the Bay Campus provided the perfect backdrop as pupils were shown by a professional photographer how to capture the competition theme of place making through the medium of photography and explore what the local community, architecture or urban design means to them.  The outputs from this masterclass will be put before a panel of UK judges next month for a possible place at the final in London on 27 September 2016 where the overall winning school will collect a state of the art camera and £3,000 towards the school’s art department.
