CLIMBING, SKIING AND SHOPPING AT EDMONTON GREEN
Visitors to Edmonton Green kicked off the bank holiday weekend in style by climbing a 7m high wall and trying out the giant Nintendo Wii installed at the shopping centre last Saturday.
Local people took the challenge and climbed the wall, installed in West Mall, or tried their hand at skiing, hula-hooping and many other games with the 8ft Nintendo Wii screen making its début in North Square.
The day of activities was arranged by St. Modwen, the developer behind the regeneration of the area. Speaking about the day, Brendan Webb, centre manager for Edmonton Green, said: “Both activities were excellent. It was fantastic to see people enjoying the climbing wall and the Nintendo Wii got a great response from everyone who took part.”
“It was wonderful to see the centre being used so well as a host for these two activities. It shows that not only is it a great place to come and do some shopping, it also works so well as a hub for the local community – a great way to finish off the summer holidays and enjoy the bank holiday weekend.”
The events came hot on the heels of the Summer Festival, an Enfield Council event in mid August supported by St. Modwen, which saw an assortment of art, dance and music activities and workshops take place at the centre.
