College students gain first-hand construction experience from former Stoke-on-Trent pupil

St. Modwen Homes opened up its Trentham Manor site to Level 3 BTEC Construction and Built Environment learners from Stoke-on-Trent College. The students, aged between 16 and 18, were invited by the homebuilder to get real-life experience of building standards, legislations, policies and procedures at a modern construction site.

The purpose of the visit was to provide a practical and interactive experience of the construction industry with a particular focus on aspects of health, safety and welfare in construction, the built environment and sustainable construction.

Peter Walters, Course Team Leader at Stoke-on-Trent College, said:

”We would like to thank St. Modwen Homes for allowing us to visit the Trentham Manor site. All of our students gained invaluable insight, knowledge and resources to assist them with their coursework and assignments. “The site visit provided a real working environment and allowed them to see legislation and policies in place for the health and safety of everyone on-site.”
