COMMUTERS FLOCK TO RUGBY
Affordable house prices and enviable communication links are contributing to Rugby being regarded as a top commuter destination for people working in London.
Roughly one third of the enquiries at St. Modwen Homes’ Edison Place development, located off Technology Drive in Rugby, are from commuters looking for a family home within an hour’s journey from London.
Research shows that, on average, people save £7,600 a year when moving out of London to Rugby, even when travel costs are taken into consideration.
One family who made the decision to move to the town and commute to work is Lounes and Siobhan Benrejdal, along with their eight month old daughter Alyssya. The pair previously lived in Enfield, North London and have recently reserved a four bedroom ‘Falconbridge’ house at Edison Place.
Siobhan, who works in London, said: “The location of Edison Place is ideal for us. Lounes and I have had to live apart for a year as he worked in Birmingham and I London. Moving to Rugby means we can now live together and still commute to our existing places of work which is perfect.
“Having the train station just a short walk away from Edison Place means I can easily get to London and, similarly, the nearby motorway makes it an easy commute into Birmingham for Lounes.
“The cost difference between properties in Rugby and London meant we could afford a four bedroom detached home with lovely large bedrooms, rear garden and plenty of space for a growing family, it’s completely superior to anything we could have got for the same price in London.”

Siobhan and Lounes secured their property with an early bird reservation at Edison Place and are due to move into their new home by December 2014.
Siobhan said: “When we visited Edison Place we immediately knew that the Falconbridge was the perfect match for what we were after but, unfortunately, there weren’t any available at the time. Luckily for us we were able to secure the property under an early bird reservation which meant we got our pick of the plots that hadn’t even officially been released. This has also meant that we’ve been able to choose our perfect kitchen helping to really make it feel like our home.”
