CONSENT GRANTED FOR TWO NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN DONCASTER

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has been granted planning consent for two new commercial developments in Doncaster, reinforcing the company’s commitment to deliver long-term investment to the town.

Outline consent has been granted to develop 250,000 sq ft of warehouse and commercial space at Parkside in Doncaster.  As part of the plans, detailed consent has been received to develop two warehouses, totalling 74,000 sq ft. In addition to bringing new investment opportunities to the local area, the development will create around 150 full time jobs.

Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council has also given the go-ahead to redevelop the Young Street car park at Waterdale Shopping Centre, bringing forward plans to deliver improved and modern retail, leisure and office space to the area.

The plans include the development of a two storey building, totalling 22,000 sq ft. The ground floor will incorporate 11,000 sq ft of retail space, whilst the first floor, also 11,000 sq ft, is planned for a variety of uses including office, leisure and restaurants.

Richard Bannister, Regional Director at St. Modwen, said: “Our plans to develop two important areas of Doncaster demonstrate our commitment and confidence in the town. It is good news for the local economy, with both developments bringing significant investment and new local jobs.

“Consent for the redevelopment of the Young Street car park is a positive sign to support the ongoing regeneration of Waterdale Shopping Centre as we continue our work to create a more vibrant and attractive retail and leisure environment.”

Refurbishment of the underground car park at Waterdale Shopping Centre and optimising of the Princegate car park will provide existing users of the Young Street car park with safe and secure parking alternatives.

A further planning application is awaiting consent to enable the construction of a Farmfoods store at Crompton Retail Park on Wheatley Hall Road. Dunelm, Marston’s and Goals Soccer Centres are already trading at the site and the grant of consent will enable the final phase of development to be delivered in 2016, bringing further jobs and investment to Doncaster.
