CONTINUED DEMAND FOR TRADE UNITS AT CENTRE 500, WOLSTANTON, NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME

Small to medium-sized industrial businesses are defying the current economic climate and moving to St Modwen’s 93,500 sq ft Centre 500 at Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, a new speculative industrial and distribution development where 75 per cent of the units have been occupied in the past 12 months.

The latest arrivals, both moving to expand, are Axis Hydraulics who have acquired a 4,000 sq ft unit for precision engineering and Ford Mainwaring who have signed a 12-year lease on a 3,500 sq ft building for a building services trade counter.

Andrew Cox, development manager of St Modwen, said: “The demand for trade counters has been on the increase and a number of companies in the area have decided to relocate to new larger premises. We have a further unit in solicitors hands, with firm interest expressed in the remaining space available.”

He added: “Our latest speculative scheme at Centre 500 comprises 23 units, ranging in size from 2,250 sq ft to

38,000 sq ft, which has been of interest to numerous local and regional companies in service and manufacturing based industries. The last remaining units on Plot 5 are available to lease or purchase on competitive terms, with incentives available for early occupation.”

Centre 500 is a prominent industrial and distribution scheme situated immediately adjacent to the A500, the Potteries main arterial route linking junctions 15 and 16 of the M6.

Louis Taylor represented St Modwen. Axis Hydraulics and Ford Mainwaring represented themselves.
