Businesses at Cranfield University Technology Park have been focusing on their growth plans over the summer, as the economy across the region goes from strength to strength.

Three existing occupiers at the Cranfield Innovation Centre (CIC) have had to boost their office space by almost 50% to allow for their growing workloads.

Tech firm Wildfire Solutions, which supplies specialist computer software to leading firms, and consultancy Total IT have both taken larger units at the CIC in the last month; the latest in a stream of moves at the Tech Park, which is located between Milton Keynes and Bedford. This takes the amount of space taken in new lettings this year to 14,300 sq ft.

In a further indication of economic expansion across the region, the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) has also almost doubled its office space at the CIC to meet demand from local businesses and especially to roll-out its Velocity Growth programme.

Rupert Wood, Regional Director for St. Modwen which owns Cranfield University Technology Park said:

“We’re delighted to see not only new companies take space at the Tech Park but also existing firms growing and moving to new premises within the Tech Park.

“We’ve intentionally tailored our offer here to accommodate growing firms, offering flexible leases and room to expand which is what small businesses need in the current market.”

Daniel Mouawad, Chief Executive of SEMLEP added that the body’s own growth mirrored that of the successful regional economy:

“Our office move has been timed to meet the needs of our expanding team and the successful roll out of our Velocity Growth business support programme, through which we have engaged with nearly 10,000 businesses across the South East Midlands.”

Cranfield University Technology Park is a partnership between Cranfield University and St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist.
