Customers quadruple at Wythenshawe

More people than ever are visiting Wythenshawe Town Centre as a result of the £6 million refurbishment programme carried out by Redman Heenan Properties Ltd, the investment subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC, in partnership with Manchester City Council.

Latest pedestrian flow figures show an average of 44,740 people visit the centre each week – a four-fold increase on the figures recorded in 1997, before the start of refurbishment.

Michelle Taylor, regional director of St Modwen, said that flow patterns also indicate that shoppers are not just visiting a specific store, but are travelling throughout the centre and browsing longer.

Major new retailers attracted as a result of the refurbishment include Argos, B & M, McDonalds, Peacocks and Select. Only three retail units remain available, from 158 sq m (1,700 sq ft) to 511 sq m (5,500 sq ft).

Johnson Fellows are letting agents for St Modwen.
