Distribution firm to move to Trentham Lakes Stoke-on-Trent
Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration Ltd, the joint venture vehicle formed by St Modwen Properties PLC and Stoke City Council, has finalised a freehold package deal for the development of a 5,054 sq m (54,400 sq ft) warehouse and distribution centre for Firmin Coates Ltd at Trentham Lakes, Stoke. Work has begun on the construction of the building which will be completed in August for the distribution firm to expand its operation which is based in Middlewich.
The arrival of Firmin Coates will create 25 jobs at the mixed use 320-acre Trentham Lakes where the occupiers include Kinder, HSBC call centre, Green Health & Fitness and Holiday Inn Express hotel.
Mike Herbert, director of Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration and of St Modwen Developments Ltd, said: “This deal is more evidence of the attractiveness of Trentham Lakes to distribution companies. Stoke is fast becoming one of the key logistics and distribution centres in the country. It has the benefit of direct links to the M6 for north/south traffic and the A50 which provides a fast link for east/west traffic to the M1 at Derby.
“This is evidenced by Sainsbury and TK Maxx recent announcements of major distribution centres in the area. Trentham Lakes is one of the largest and most accessible sites in the region and can accommodate further individual buildings of up to 46,450 sq m (500,000 sq ft).” Daniel & Hulme and Insignia Richard Ellis act for Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration.
