Dunvant RFC score new shirts from St. Modwen Homes

The senior teams at a Swansea rugby club are sporting new club shirts after receiving a helping hand from St. Modwen Homes.

75 members of Dunvant RFC have received new polo shirts after the housebuilder, which is delivering new homes nearby at Hendrefoilan Park, donated £1650 to the club.

The club’s first XV take on teams from across Wales in the WRU National League Division 1 West, with opposition as far away as Aberystwyth and Tenby. The team were league champions in 2016 and enjoyed a successful 2017/2018 season, where they came second in the division.

The donation continues the relationship between the club and St. Modwen Homes after the housebuilder previously donated new kits for 35 members of Dunvant RFC’s youth team, which is for players aged between 16 and 19.

Club Secretary for Dunvant RFC, Paul Loughlin, said: “Clubs like ours rely on the support of volunteers and companies like St. Modwen Homes which provided us with fantastic support by sponsoring our youth team last year as well, so we’re thrilled to have its ongoing support this season.

“The new polo shirts are fantastic and the lads wear them at all of our games home and away, and around the area as well. They really look the part and after finishing second in the league last year, we’re hoping these shirts will bring us an extra bit of luck to go one better this season.”

The club plays its home games at Broadacre in Killay and as well as its senior teams, Dunvant RFC has one of the largest junior sections in the region, with teams at all age groups from under 5s to under 16s.

Sales Manager at St. Modwen Homes, Karon O’Callaghan, said: “We’ve built a strong relationship with Dunvant RFC and we’re thrilled to be able to support them once again by donating some new club polo shirts for its senior teams.

“Our aim as a housebuilder is not just to build homes but to build successful communities, and clubs like Dunvant RFC play a vital role in this. As well as providing a fun and social environment for both children and adults it also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle so we’re thrilled to support the club in any way we can.

“We’ll be following the club’s progress closely, and wish them all the best for the upcoming season.”

All homes at Hendrefoilan Park in the leafy suburb of Sketty in Swansea have sold out. For more information on St. Modwen Homes developments in Wales, visit www.stmodwenhomes.co.uk.
