The future of global food could be mapped out at Cranfield following the relocation of fast-growing food freshness technology innovator, It’sFresh!, to Cranfield University Technology Park.

The company is developing revolutionary, proprietary technologies that can reduce food waste, improve consumer enjoyment and increase food security—crucial benefits in a world challenged to feed its rapidly-expanding population.

It’sFresh! was previously based in the West Midlands but has taken 6,300sq ft of office space at Medway Court on the Tech Park in order to meet the demands of its growing business, which includes a dedicated U.S. operation and a global network of research and development partners, including Cranfield University.

Simon Lee, Director at It’sFresh! said that the Tech Park’s location and links to world-renowned research facilities at Cranfield University were a major factor in the company’s decision to move to Medway Court:

“As a business we’ve already invested over £15m in advanced materials technology to change the game in food freshness.

“We’ve been working with Cranfield University for many years to develop new insights into the science of freshness, and by moving to share campus space with them now we are ideally placed to extend our partnership as business grows.”

Rupert Wood, Regional Director at St. Modwen which runs Cranfield University Technology Park added:

“We’re pleased to welcome It’sFresh! as an exciting new addition to the Tech Park, joining our already strong line of up of global brands.

“The move shows the on-going appeal of the region as a whole to innovative businesses looking to take advantage of the strong links to industry and research excellence around Milton Keynes and Bedford.”

Cranfield University Technology Park is a partnership between Cranfield University and St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist. The Tech Park is home to over 50 science, technology and knowledge based businesses, ranging from start-ups through to internationally renowned brands including Nissan and Trafficmaster.
