Glan Llyn, a community the size of 400 football pitches (600 acres), is Newport’s largest regeneration scheme.
The 20-year project transforming the site of the former Llanwern Steelworks into a sustainable community will eventually provide 4,000 new homes and 6,000 new jobs.
The landowner, St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has released a new leaflet at showing what the community could look like.
The Gateway, a new main entrance to the £1bn community, has already been created and will be home to the Newport Civic Clock from this summer.
The first homes developed by St. Modwen with joint venture partner, Persimmon Homes have been built and occupied. Out of a total of 307 homes, 77 have already been sold.
Glan Llyn will have a real sense of community and will include two primary schools, a doctor’s surgery, a library, a supermarket as well as shops, bars and restaurants.
In addition to the 12 acre public park which will be constructed this year, the community will have three new lakes and parklands and 80 acres of open space.
Celtic Business Park, the community’s new business area, will bring jobs and investment to the city. Visit for further information.
