GRAND SLAM FOR DUNVANT YOUTH

Local rugby club, Dunvant Youth, has hooked a top new sponsor in the form of award-winning housebuilder, St. Modwen Homes.

Committed to supporting community initiatives that benefit its new homeowners, St. Modwen Homes has supplied new kits for all 35 players, aged 16 to 19, and the coaches at Dunvant Youth; one of the biggest youth squads in the Ospreys area.

Currently third in their league, the rugby club is located less than two miles from St. Modwen Homes’ new housing development at Hendrefoilan where construction is currently underway on the first homes.

Bev Hall, Sales and Marketing Director at St. Modwen Homes, said: “Our new homes mark the next milestone in the redevelopment of the Hendrefoilan Student Village. Being specialists in regeneration means that we have years of experience in delivering sustainable developments and a big part of our success is working with the local community. Sports clubs such as Dunvant Youth play a vital role in bringing together young people, teaching them new skills whilst developing friendships and confidence. We’re very much looking forward to cheering the team on this year and hope to see some of our new homeowners become part of the club in the future.”

When complete, the new development at Hendrefoilan will comprise a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom homes in a range of styles, including terraced, semi-detached and detached houses, as well as some three storey properties.

Aled Samuel, Manager of Dunvant Youth Rugby Club, said: “Sports teams such as ours rely on the support and contributions made by local businesses; quite simply, without this support we wouldn’t be able to continue to offer the services that we do.

“It’s great to see a local housebuilder wanting to get involved with the local community and I’m sure this new partnership between Dunvant Youth and St. Modwen Homes is going to be extremely successful. I know the players are over the moon with their new kit.”

Established in 1887, Dunvant Youth Rugby Club has grown and nurtured numerous talented players including former Welsh international scrum halves Richie Rees and Andy Williams and current Wales Deaf internationals Richard Lewis and Sam Gallagher, not to mention  many age grade players that have represented Wales.

St. Modwen Homes is the housebuilding brand of St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, and has gained a strong reputation for its stand-out house designs and its considerate approach to the local community.
