Consent has been granted for St. Modwen’s outline plans to deliver up to 300 new homes at Land West of Locking Parklands in Weston-Super-Mare.

The site has been identified for residential development as part of the adopted Weston Villages Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) and the additional 300 dwellings will integrate fully with the existing and planned developments at St. Modwen’s adjacent £400 million Locking Parklands scheme. Vehicular access to the site will be from the major new £9 million North-South link road being delivered by North Somerset Council through the Locking Parklands development.

Work on the first phase of new homes at Land West of Locking Parklands, comprising a variety of house types and sizes, is due to commence later in the year under the award-winning St. Modwen Homes brand. 330 dwellings have already been built by St. Modwen Homes at neighbouring Locking Parklands, setting a new quality threshold for residential development in the local area and winning national awards including: Best Design in the Housebuilder Awards; third best development in the UK by What House?; and, most recently, Best Starter Home Scheme 2017 by What House?.

Mark Thorne, Planning Manager for St. Modwen West and Wales, said:

“Our plans to develop the Land West of Locking Parklands have been meticulously planned and considered, in consultation with North Somerset Council and local stakeholders, to deliver exceptional quality housing which fully respects its setting and integrates with our adjacent, award-winning Locking Parklands development. Residents of both will therefore reap the long-term benefits provided by attractive and sustainable new community.”
