HATFIELD TOWN CENTRE REGENERATION SCHEME – PROGRESS UPDATE

The preparation and enabling works for Phase 1 of the Hatfield Town Centre regeneration scheme at 88 Town Centre are continuing as programmed.

The work is progressing well with important utility works being undertaken. During the next 2-3 weeks, the following works are being carried out: Openreach completing their diversion works on the telephone and communication networks; UK Power Networks undertaking electricity diversion works; Affinity diverting water mains pipes; and National Grid Gas completing their diversion works around Block C at the entrance to The Arcade.

Alongside these enabling works, site preparation, including the erecting of new hoardings and the removal of trees around the 88 Town Centre site, will be carried out.

Rupert Wood, Regional Director for St. Modwen, said: “It may be difficult for the public to see what’s happening on site at present given the nature of the enabling works, but we are pleased with progress made so far. The coming weeks will see utility services work completed and both sites being prepared for main construction works. We will continue to inform local businesses of specific activities and keep the general public updated on the progress in transforming this part of the town centre“.
