HEDNESFORD ANIMAL HOSPITAL SET TO TREAT ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL
The dogs, cats, and small and exotic pets of Hednesford are set to benefit from a new animal hospital opening on their doorstep.
Hednesford Animal Hospital at Chase Gateway, part of St. Modwen’s £50 million transformation of Hednesford town centre, is due to begin looking after its first furry patients later this year.
The veterinary surgery, part of the Lockwood Veterinary Group, which currently operates eight clinics in Staffordshire and the West Midlands, has taken the 1,667 sq ft unit in order to be able to offer high quality affordable care, including x-ray and operating facilities, to a wide range of sick animals.
Located on Market Street, the easily accessible animal hospital sits alongside the Whitehouse Brothers Meat Market, Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA), the Barnardo’s store and Hednesford Bingo. Just minutes away, at the UK’s leading regeneration specialist’s Victoria Shopping Park, Tesco, Costa Coffee, Pets Corner, Phones 4u and Lloyds Pharmacy create a vibrant retail environment at the heart of Hednesford.
Dr Graham Parlane, senior veterinary surgeon and founder of Lockwood Veterinary Group, which has been running for more than 20 years, said: “Market Street is an ideal location for our new animal hospital as it is highly visible and easy for pet owners to get to. We look forward to treating plenty of local dogs and cats, along with smaller animals such as gerbils and hamsters.
“Over recent years we’ve noticed an increase in the number of rabbits being brought to our surgeries, so we expect to see plenty of those along with more exotic creatures, including reptiles and amphibians. Some of our staff members have a special interest in exotic animals, meaning we’re able to treat even the most unusual pets.”
Lockwood Veterinary Group will be closing its Hawkes Green Veterinary Centre, around half a mile away in Cannock, and relocating its team to the new Hednesford Animal Hospital. The move means they will have the space to provide more intensive care, with laboratories, state of the art operating facilities and dedicated recovery areas on-site.
Jonathan Green, development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “The Hednesford Animal Hospital is a welcome addition to Market Street at Chase Gateway. The surgery adds to the increasingly varied line-up of tenants that are taking advantage of the vibrant trading environment in Hednesford town centre.
“St. Modwen’s ten acre regeneration project for the town, which incorporates Chase Gateway and Victoria Shopping Park, has a strong mix of high street shops including independent local businesses, and we look forward to welcoming more retailers in the near future.”
