Hotel, Shops and Trade Park planned at Longbridge
St Modwen Properties PLC, the development partner of MG Rover Group for its surplus land at its Longbridge car plant, has submitted planning applications for the first stage of the regeneration scheme.
The proposals, now being considered by Birmingham City Council, comprise the redevelopment of former West A and B car parks for a 60-bed hotel and restaurant, a 24,000 sq ft trade park, three retail units totalling 10,500 sq ft and a 2,900 sq ft drive-thru restaurant.
Tim Hurdiss of St Modwen said: “This is the first part of the redevelopment that will help to transform the area, provide new facilities and jobs for local people.
“The uses are in accordance with the Supplementary Planning Guidance prepared by Birmingham City Council. We hope, subject to planning, to begin work on site in the Spring.”
