JJB Sports pre-let at The Mead

JJB Sports is to relocate its Farnborough store into the new Mead scheme which Key Property Investments, St Modwen Properties PLC’s joint venture with Salhia Real Estate Co, is developing as part of its £50 million redevelopment of Farnborough Town Centre.

JJB, which has agreed to pre-let a 1,115 sq m (12,000 sq ft) unit on a 15-year institutional lease, will occupy the first and second floors of the scheme.

The Mead also includes seven ground-floor retail units which received planning consent earlier this year. A start on site is programmed for early 2002 with completion by the autumn.

Simon Rutter of St Modwen, reports that there is already very good interest in the scheme. “We are pleased to have agreed the relocation of JJB Sports. This means more than 50 per cent of the Mead scheme is pre-let and yet another retailer is relocated to facilitate the larger North Queensmead

redevelopment proposals.”

Green & Partners acted for Key Property Investments and is soon to commence marketing the remaining units.
