LANDAID MIDLANDS 10K RETURNS TO HELP END YOUTH HOMELESSNESS IN THE MIDLANDS

LandAid, the property industry charity, is calling on runners to take on property’s toughest 10K.

Sponsored by St. Modwen, the race will take place on Friday 14 September in Longbridge, Birmingham. All funds raised will go towards the aim of ending youth homelessness in the Midlands.

The race, now in its second year, is property’s toughest 10K and calls on runners to compete on steep hills, rough terrain and a route that has formed part of the UK Athletics Cross Country Championships.

Alongside the 10K race, there is a 5K option for runners who want a shorter challenge.

All funds raised from the LandAid Midlands 10K will help LandAid fund the renovation of 48 homes for young people who have been homeless in the Midlands. The homes consist of 24 one-bed flats and 24 studio apartments and will be managed by St Basils, the leading youth homelessness charity in Birmingham.

Last year, over 200 property runners competed in the inaugural LandAid Midlands 10K, including Jonathan Green, Director of Asset Management, Midlands Region, at St. Modwen, Ashley Hancox, Executive Director at CBRE and Brian Baker, Chief Finance Officer at St Francis Group. Collectively, participants raised over £30,000 to provide safe accommodation for 18 young people at risk of homelessness through phase two of St Basils’ ‘Live and Work’ scheme.

Registration for the LandAid Midlands 10K is now available.

Paul Morrish, Chief Executive at LandAid said: “It is great to hold our second LandAid Midlands 10K this year to provide more safe, secure and affordable homes for young people who need them the most. Property’s toughest 10K – and, new for this year, a 5K too – will be a true test of our runners’ energy, determination and grit. We want as many property professionals as possible to take on this epic challenge and help us and St Basils take another big step forward in tackling youth homelessness across the Midlands.”

Rupert Wood, Property Director – Asset Management and Chair of the CSR Committee at St. Modwen said: “We are very proud to once again be hosts and headline sponsors of LandAid’s 10K run in Birmingham. Last year’s event was such an enjoyable day, as well as raising vital funds for St Basils, allowing them to deliver life-changing services to young people facing homelessness. St. Modwen is committed to creating long-term sustainable communities and breathing new life into areas that need it the most across the UK. Therefore, we place great importance on the work LandAid carries out.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to Longbridge in September, and participating in the event alongside colleagues, partners and clients.”
