Residents from Meon Vale and the surrounding community in Stratford were the first to try out a raft of new equipment at Meon Vale leisure centre at a grand unveiling event on Saturday.

Members of the local community attended the event held between 10am and 4pm, where the leisure team were on-hand to demonstrate how to operate the new equipment, and provide information on the latest new classes launching at the centre.

With a growing number of members, Meon Vale Leisure Centre has invested in new equipment and reconfigured the layout of the gym to appeal to people of all skills and levels of fitness. The free weights area of the gym has been extended and more machinery has been installed, including new plate-loaded equipment along with free weight bars and plates.

Additional space has also been made available for classes, ensuring that people can socialise and keep fit together in a relaxed group environment, whilst the specialist gym instructors have also launched a personal training service for people seeking one-to-one support to help them reach their fitness goals.

Leisure Centre manager James Freeman said: “The leisure centre continues to prove popular, both with residents at Meon Vale and the wider community, and offers the best-equipped facility in the area, just five minutes’ drive from the town centre.

“To ensure we continue to provide state-of-the-art facilities and appeal to a wide range of abilities, we have addressed the layout of the gym and equipment to provide more room for free-weight work as well as offering more social open spaces for group training.

“The launch event allowed us to showcase the new equipment to potential and existing members as well as explaining the many other services on offer here, including our new classes, which offer something for everyone. We hope the event and new look will encourage even more residents to get active with us.”

Meon Vale Leisure Centre opened its doors in July 2014, with people of all ages and fitness levels enjoying access to centre’s gym, sports hall and all weather pitch.

Considerable investment has been made the former MoD site since St. Modwen started developing it in 2013. Meon Vale is now a thriving new community encompassing new homes, a public square and village hall, convenience store, a children’s play area and skate-park, as well as the new number 24 bus service, linking the village with Stratford-upon-Avon and Evesham.
