Leading food retailer signs at St. Modwen’s Albion Gateway

St. Modwen has attracted the UK’s largest bakery chain, Greggs PLC, to its popular 10-acre scheme known as Albion Gateway in Burton-on-Trent.

Greggs PLC has signed a 10-year lease for approximately 3,000 sq ft of space, with the store bringing approximately 10 jobs to the local area.

The letting forms part of a wider development of 82,700 sq ft, which includes retail and leisure space, as well as commercial units. The scheme is home to several industrial and logistics businesses, including James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot, engineering firm Beck & Pollitzer and MKM Building Supplies.

Albion Gateway, located to the north of Burton-on-Trent, has excellent links to the A50, A511 and is situated on the A38, the main arterial route into the town centre.

Gemma Butler, Asset Manager at St. Modwen Industrial & Logistics, said:

“This scheme is delivering economic growth and significant employment opportunities for people local to Burton-upon-Trent. Our agreement with Greggs greatly improves the retail offer at Albion Gateway, expanding our diverse set of occupiers at the scheme. I’m sure both our existing tenants and the local public are pleased to see the opening of the popular chain.”

Roisin Currie, retail and people director at Greggs PLC, added:

“We are delighted to be creating 10 local jobs for the people of Burton-upon-Trent following the opening of our new shop at Albion Gateway this month.”

Conor Mulloy, Associate Partner at Cheetham & Mortimer, added:

“We are pleased to have completed this deal with Greggs and are pleased to be welcoming them to the scheme. This deal only adds to the popularity of Albion Gateway and we expect it will bring further new business.”

Paul Rushton, Director at Rushton Hickman Limited, added:

“We expect the enhanced retail offering at Albion Gateway to attract several new businesses to the location. Albion Gateway’s prominent location next to the A38 makes this a prime site for trade counter and industrial and logistics occupiers.”
