LOCAL FIRMS’ KEEN INTEREST IN WIGAN’S LATEST INDUSTRIAL SCHEME

Construction is progressing at a pace on the 4,738 sq m ( 51,000 sq ft ) first phase of Enterprise Court, Wigan, a St Modwen Ventures, a wholly-owned subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC , industrial/warehouse development which has already generated very strong interest from local firms.

The development is now beginning to take shape with the structural steelwork nearing completion. Units will be available for occupation at the end of October.

Enterprise Court is an extension of the 30-acre Wigan Enterprise Park where some 35,116 sq m (378,000 sq ft ) is currently occupied by such companies as Hitchen Foods Ltd, RMS Distribution and First Manchester.

“There is the opportunity to build a further  3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft)  and we are interested in discussing design and build or carrying on a rolling programme of development,” says Steven Knowles.

Since its inception in 2000, through effective estate management and provision of estate security, the Enterprise Park has grown in popularity with a steady flow of new occupiers.

Enterprise Court is the latest extension offering accommodation of between (247 sq m (2,661 sq ft ) to  986 sq m (10,620 sq ft )  which will benefit from the same management and security regime. Units are available either for sale or to let. Currently most of the interest is from local Wigan businesses looking to purchase their own premises. There is also the opportunity to undertake up to  3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft ) design and build on an adjoining plot.

Coun. John O’Neill, deputy leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “Wigan Enterprise Park is part of the Foundation Economic Development Zone, a  £30 million regeneration and investment programme in the south Wigan and Ince areas. Sites like Wigan Enterprise Park have made a significant contribution to the regeneration of the area and have been crucial in attracting new businesses to the borough.”

Littler & Associates are agents for the scheme.
