LOCKING PARKLANDS NAMED AS ONE OF TOP THREE DEVELOPMENTS IN UK
St. Modwen Homes’ Locking Parklands housing scheme in Weston-super-Mare has won the bronze award for best residential development in the annual What House Awards.
The What House Awards recognises those housebuilders that strive to exceed expectations and deliver high quality desirable homes across the UK. The winners of each award are decided upon by a panel of property experts including architects, surveyors, property writers and industry specialists, and were announced at an awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Celebrated for the range of properties available, its original designs, quality site layout and landscaping of the development, Locking Parklands was named as one of the top three housing schemes in the UK. The site was praised for appealing to the mass market – including first time buyers, those moving up the property ladder and downsizers – whilst offering a range of houses and apartments that stand out in the local market place.
Neil Simpson, sales and marketing director at St. Modwen Homes said: “It has been one year now since we launched the homes at Locking Parklands to the general public and to complete our first year with a national award and being named as one of the best developments in the UK is very rewarding.
“The sales team and construction team at Locking Parklands have put in a huge amount of effort to ensure the highest possible standard of living for all our new residents. Locking Parklands is a major, long term project which will provide not only much needed family homes and apartments but essential amenities, infrastructure, employment and business opportunities for people in the local area. It is a very exciting project to be part of and hopefully we will go on to win further awards as the site continues to evolve.”
The first phase of homes at Locking Parklands, The Parkside, was completed in July this year (2012) with more than 95 per cent of homeowners having now moved in. The latest residential phase, The Woodlands, has also proven popular with local people and more than 50 per cent of homes have already been sold off-plan.
Houses are currently for sale in The Woodlands which offers purchasers a fresh perspective on new-build homes. Individually designed, there are seven house types available, all boasting different renders, interior fit-out and stand-out features including full height central windows, balconies, pitched roofs and outstanding views across the natural woodland setting. The properties also benefit from large windows and higher than average ceilings, creating a light and airy space. All the homes are being built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, meaning they are 25 per cent more energy efficient than current building regulations require.
Prices for the luxury homes in The Woodlands start from just £219,500 for a semi-detached three bedroom Maple house, and under St. Modwen Homes’ equity loan scheme FirstStep, houses can be purchased with a deposit of just five per cent.
Neil Simpson continues: “It is our aim for Locking Parklands to be considered a sought-after location for people to purchase their first home, bring up their families and even enjoy retirement. Creating something unique, that is packed full of character whilst still retaining a ‘homely’ feel has been incredibly important to us and we are so pleased that our individual designs, high quality build and our vision for a sustainable development has been recognised by experts in the property industry.”
Locking Parklands is being developed by the UK’s leading regeneration specialist St. Modwen and when complete, the £400 million mixed use development will provide a range of community facilities including retail space, a library and a school – all of which will be with within walking distance of the new homes which are being built by St. Modwen Homes, the residential arm of St. Modwen. The nearest station, Weston Milton, is less than three miles away and there is good road access to the M5 and A371, as well as Weston-super-Mare town centre.
Construction has now started on 80 per cent of homes at The Woodlands, with an upcoming phase due to deliver two, three and four bedroom houses and apartments next year. The Locking Parklands marketing suite, located off Farnborough Road in Locking, is open for visitors seven days a week between 10am and 6pm.
