MAIN PARADE OF SHOPS COMPLETE AT WEMBLEY CENTRAL AS COSTA OPENS ITS DOORS
The redevelopment of Wembley Central has been given a further major boost as Costa opened its doors at the centre this week.
The coffee shop chain is a welcome addition to the £90million Wembley Central by St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, which has given the Town Centre’s commercial heart a new lease of life, generating more footfall and attracting new custom to the area.
It completes the parade of shops leading adjacent to Wembley Central train station, which already consists of The Perfume Shop, O2 and Wenzel’s bakery. The overall scheme has also introduced TX Maxx, Sports Direct, Tesco Metro and a major new Argos store to the newly regenerated Town Centre.
It also boosts Wembley Central as a multi-purpose destination where people can come not only to shop, but to meet with friends or to visit Explore Learning or popular fitness club The Gym.
Killian Morris, Senior Development Manager at St. Modwen said: “The opening of Costa is important for Wembley Central as a quality coffee outlet and was an amenity noticeably lacking from the town centre. Now, not only do we have a fantastic range of shops and other facilities open and trading, but an internationally recognised coffee brand helping to make this area of London even more desirable.”
Richard Underwood, Retail Development Manager for Costa said: “We’re really excited to be opening our Wembley Central store, bringing new jobs and re-development to the area and will continue to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising. Myself and your local team of baristas look forward to welcoming Wembley coffee lovers into store to enjoy a handcrafted coffee with us in the near future.”
The opening of Costa comes shortly after the final tranche of new homes built by St. Modwen went on the rental market after a surge in demand following the transformation of the area.
The last 38 apartments in the new development are currently being marketed for rental online (www.wembley-central.co.uk) and are available to move into from the beginning of March as the final leisure and retail openings, including a Travelodge hotel, take place.
St. Modwen has delivered a total of 273 new homes within the overall scheme, which is gaining increasing recognition as a smart new urban quarter.
Demand for living space has been driven not only by the high quality homes and enviable transport links, but also by the redevelopment of the immediate area, which has seen it transformed into a multi-purpose destination.
Retailers currently established in the redevelopment include TK Maxx, Tesco, Argos, Iceland, Sports Direct, and The Gym. An 86-bedroom Travelodge hotel is also due to open its doors at the new development within days.
St. Modwen’s regeneration of Wembley Central also includes a new public square, enhanced train station, refurbished 24 hour multi-storey car park and gym facilities.
