MAKING FARNBOROUGH TOWN CENTRE SAFER
New security measures at The Meads unveiled
St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist and owner of the Meads Shopping Centre in Farnborough, has introduced a state-of-the-art security centre that will form the focal point for new security measures in the town centre.
The company, which is also spearheading the redevelopment of Farnborough Town Centre, has set up the new control room which has seen the Shopping Centre’s security system grow from six small monitors to an 18 screen monitor wall.
“The redevelopment of Farnborough town centre is geared towards attracting new visitors to the area. To do this it is paramount that shoppers, residents and workers feel safe,” says James Stockdale, Development Manager at St. Modwen.
“As part of the town centre regeneration, our new security centre, together with additional CCTV which – alongside other measures such as dedicated Duty Controllers – will provide shoppers and residents with a safe environment. We are proud that The Meads now boasts one of the most modern security centres in the country.”
The security control room will run two dual screen operating stations and a separate reviewing area, allowing the images to be monitored on a 24-hour basis to give comprehensive, live footage of activity in and around the Centre. The intruder alarm system has also been fully automated and linked to the CCTV system, and images will be stored for up to 31 days.
According to Andy Wynn, Centre Manager at The Meads: “The new system comes on the back of a move earlier this year to introduce a dedicated team for the control room. We are extremely pleased with the security measures and believe they contribute towards maintaining The Meads as an attractive shopping destination.”
