Mary Francis joins the board

St. Modwen Properties PLC, the regeneration specialist, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Francis, until recently Director General of the Association of British Insurers (ABI), as a non-executive Director, with effect from 1 June 2005.

Mrs. Francis (56) has had a long and distinguished career in both the public and private sectors, having worked in a wide variety of roles, including the corporate finance department of Hill Samuel & Co., for HM Treasury on privatisation and European Union policy, in 10 Downing Street, and as Deputy Private Secretary to the Queen.

She was Director General of the ABI from 1999 until she stepped down earlier this year. She is a non-executive director of the Bank of England and of Centrica plc and, in addition, she joins the Board of Aviva plc as a non-executive Director in October.

Commenting on the appointment of Mary Francis, Anthony Glossop, Chairman of St. Modwen Properties PLC, states:
