MATALAN, THE GYM AND STORE TWENTY ONE TO OPEN AT EDMONTON GREEN CENTRE ADDS MAJOR NAMES TO ITS FASHION AND FITNESS OFFER

St. Modwen has announced that family retailer Matalan will be opening a new store at Edmonton Green by September this year, alongside the leading low-cost gym operator The Gym Group and fashion and accessories specialist Store Twenty One. The news is a major boost for the Centre’s fashion and fitness offer and will see the creation of new jobs in the local area.

Matalan, which prides itself on offering outstanding value for the modern family and has over 12 million customers per year, will be taking a 27,000 sq ft store within the former Tesco’s unit in North Mall where it will provide ladieswear, menswear, kidswear and homeware. It has been awarded Gold at the prestigious Mumsnet Family Friendly awards for two years in a row, in recognition of its achievements in consistently meeting family friendly criteria for both its employees and customers.

The Gym will occupy a 34,000 sq ft unit, located in the upper floors above the new Matalan store, with its entrance on North Square. The Gym Group is the fastest growing low-cost fitness chain inside Greater London, which has pioneered the concept of 24/7, high quality low cost gyms in the UK. It operates a no contracts, affordable prices policy whilst still offering the high-spec top of the range equipment you would expect to find in a health club. It also offers free classes throughout the week and a round the clock class timetable, giving its customers ultimate flexibility.

Adding to the new line-up of national operators is fashion-forward chain Store Twenty One. Store Twenty One has over 200 stores in the UK, offering stylish, fashion led clothing and accessories for women, girls, boys and men. The stores also feature a range of homeware and lifestyle products at affordable prices. The new shop will open in July and sit alongside Blue Inc in the Centre’s Market Square.

The signings reflect the feedback we received during a recent customer survey which highlighted a desire for an affordable fashion chain and additional fitness and leisure choices. In addition, the new stores will generate a further job opportunities in the local area across a variety of roles.”
