MORE RETAIL SPACE FOR WYTHENSHAWE SUCCESS STORY
St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has started work on site to deliver an additional 1,500 sq ft of retail space in Wythenshawe town centre.
The five new units are further proof of growing confidence in the town after a 1,500 sq ft letting to Phones4U confirmed that Wythenshawe’s existing retail space was 100 per cent occupied.
The units will occupy the former home of white goods retailer Go Domestic, which moved into St. Modwen’s 15,000 sq ft Haletop East office and retail development last year.
Available as units between 239 and 596 sq ft each, the space is particularly suited to local and independent retailers. The units will be available from August 2011 after a 12-week programme of construction and fit-out work.
Steve Knowles, development director at St. Modwen, said: “Since we assumed the management of Wythenshawe town centre it has benefitted from £100 million of investment. The addition of further retail space is proof of growing confidence in the town.
“We’ve been working hard to develop a traditional high street offer, with small independent retailers sitting alongside national brands. This new accommodation is another step forward and expands our retail offer for shoppers.”
St. Modwen is also progressing work on the 100,000 sq ft office and retail development Etrop Court, which will become home to retailer Wilkinsons later in the year.
