MYTON HOSPICE RECIEVES FAN-TASTIC DONATION
For the second year running, St. Modwen Homes has shown its support for Myton Hospice in Rugby. This year, the housebuilder funded handheld fans for all patients suffering from breathing difficulties.
Up to 80% of Myton Hospice patients may suffer breathing difficulties as a result of their illness or long-term health condition. These conditions may include heart failure, cancer and certain lung diseases. Handheld fans have been proven to make a considerable difference in easing a patients symptoms and reducing stress and anxiety levels that are often experienced by someone who has difficulty or encounters discomfort when breathing.
This donation by St. Modwen Homes – the multi award winning housebuilder behind the Edison Place development located off Technology Drive – follows the donation of new uniforms for staff at Myton Hospice in 2014.
Bev Hall, Sales and Marketing Director at St. Modwen Homes, said: “Myton Hospice is a wonderful charity which has an established place in the heart of the community in Rugby and is highly regarded by our residents at Edison Place. The charity has made a huge difference to many people living in the local area and hopefully our donation will help make a difference to people suffering with breathing difficulties.”
Rosie Houghton, Corporate Fundraiser at Myton Hospice, said: “We’re really pleased St. Modwen Homes has been kind enough to support the Hospice once again. Breathlessness is a very frightening symptom to live with, but providing sufferers with something as simple as a handheld fan can aid in a quicker recovery and enable patients to be in more control of their symptoms.”
The Myton Hospice provides care to people living in Rugby and the surrounding area and aims to ensure that people’s last months, weeks, days or hours are as good as they possibly can be, giving them the opportunity to live their lives to the full. The Hospice also provides counselling and family support, clinical psychology, complementary therapy and spiritual care, as well as a day centre facility.
