National furniture brand, DFS, has signed up to 53,000 sq ft of space at St. Modwen’s landmark warehouse scheme at Centurion Park in Tamworth, bringing up to 40 additional jobs to the area.

The UK’s leading regeneration specialist handed the unit over to DFS this week, after they signed up to the Tamworth scheme to take advantage of the site’s prime location adjacent to junction 10 of the M42. Other occupiers at Centurion Park include AAH Pharmaceuticals, Aldi, Speedy Hire and Norbert Dentressangle.

Doncaster-based DFS has taken the 53,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution unit at Centurion Park to facilitate the delivery of orders to its Midlands’ customer base.

The unit offers 49,959 sq ft of warehouse space and 2,861 sq ft of offices and provides a substantial yard and multiple loading doors, including seven dock level loading doors.

Jonathan Green, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “Centurion Park is one of the most sought after locations in the Midlands region due to its superb transport links. We pushed ahead with the speculative build unit in response to the lack of supply of new, good quality warehouse space across the region. The letting to DFS pays testament to that choice.

“Since making the decision to take the facility, we have worked closely with DFS to adapt the building so that it suits their operational requirements, and have achieved this within the tight timeframe they required. We are now in discussions with a number of other businesses regarding our second 153,000 sq ft unit, which will create further employment opportunities at Centurion Park.”

Ranjit Gill of Savills, property agent for Centurion Park, added: “We are currently experiencing a high level of demand for modern industrial premises but availability across the region is very limited. St. Modwen has identified this market imbalance and has proceeded with this speculative development in this popular logistics location.”

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, secured consent from North Warwickshire Borough Council last July for a 200,000 sq ft extension at Centurion Park. Alongside its superb transport links, occupiers benefit from St. Modwen’s estate management and security. The first phase of development at Centurion Park was completed in 1994.
