NEW DISTRIBUTION CENTRE FOR BURTON

Construction of  a 150,000 sq ft distribution warehouse has started on Centre 38, Barton-under-Needwood, near Burton-on-Trent, where Barton Business Park Ltd, a joint venture between St Modwen Properties PLC and Prologis Ltd, has developed industrial facilities already generating

employment for more than 1,000 people.

The distribution building with an eaves height of 12 metres, will be completed by mid-November.

Paul Smith of St Modwen said: “Centre 38 has been a very successful project. Recently, there has been a large influx of new employees with the opening of  two new facilities for Pirelli and Intier Automotive Interiors  totalling 435,000 sq ft alongside the previously developed Bombardier Rail Depot and Argos distribution warehouse. Once the new speculative unit is completed the remaining plots allow for further development for a number of warehousing and industrial units ranging in

size from 30,000 sq ft to 115,000 sq ft.”

Simon Noyes-Lewis, associate director at DTZ, joint letting agents with Burbage Realty, comments: “Staffordshire is a key distribution location due to the area’s excellent motorway links and shortage of land in other parts of the West Midlands that is suitable for larger distribution facilities. Centre 38 aims to tap into the current levels of demand in the region for good quality, well-positioned distribution facilities with good connectivity.”
