OLD SPOT INN BRINGS GLASTONBURY TO DURSLEY

Music fans from Dursley and the surrounding area will be heading to the Old Spot Inn this Sunday (14 July) to celebrate the return of annual music festival, SpotFest.

For one day only, the well-known pub will transform its garden into a festival showground with three acts taking to the stage to delight audiences between the hours of 4pm and 11pm.

Sponsored by St. Modwen Homes – the developer behind the newly launched houses at the Littlecombe site on Lister Road – the event will be headlined by Thrill Collins; the first band to play at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Steve Herbert, pub landlord at The Old Spot Inn said: “When Glastonbury didn’t take place last year, we decided to hold our own music festival for people to enjoy. Attracting hundreds of people, SpotFest 2012 was a huge success and helped celebrate the musical talent on offer in the Cotswolds. It seemed only right that we continue the tradition of SpotFest this year and, thanks to the support of St. Modwen Homes, we are delighted to be hosting Dursley’s second annual music festival this weekend. It even seems like we might have the weather on our side!”

The Old Spot Inn’s own barmaid, Nancy Robb, will be performing as the lead singer of The Whole Grand Scheme, offering a selection of hits from Foo Fighters to Britney Spears, as well as some of their own songs. Local band, The Macaroni Penguins will also be playing at the festival.

Neil Simpson, sales and marketing director at St. Modwen Homes said: “Dursley is a fantastic market town in the heart of the Cotswolds and community events such as SpotFest help to make it an incredibly friendly and welcoming place to live.

“Supporting the local community is very important to St. Modwen Homes and we always strive to get involved with activities and events that are taking place in the vicinity of our developments. We are very excited to be sponsoring this year’s SpotFest which sounds like a fantastic event and a great platform for showcasing talented local bands.”Construction is now well underway at St. Modwen Homes’ new Littlecombe development, with the brand new show home due to open its doors next week.
