PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITON LAUNCHES WITH LOCAL COLLEGE STUDENTS AT EDISON PLACE, RUGBY
Local students at Warwickshire College are being given an opportunity to showcase their creative talents in a photography competition aimed at conveying what Rugby and Warwickshire mean to local people.
Organised by award-winning residential developer, St. Modwen Homes – the housebuilder behind the new Edison Place development off Technology Drive – budding photographers are being given the chance to win £250 worth of photography equipment.
The theme of the competition is ‘what Rugby/Warwickshire means to me’ and as part of the exercise, students will be able to visit the new show home at Edison Place, as well as watching the live construction on-site to get inspiration for their photos.
Guy Gusterson, managing director of St. Modwen Homes, said: “As part of our commitment to working with the local community, we wanted to approach students at Warwickshire College to find out what Rugby and Warwickshire really means to local people, and what features within the town resonate as being unique to Rugby’s identity.
“The best 25 photos will be displayed in a public gallery within one of our view homes, so that potential purchasers and local people have a chance to see the artwork – who knows, it might just be the start of a budding photography career for some of the exhibitors!”
Highlighting St. Modwen Homes’ commitment to supporting young people within the local community, the competition has been designed to provide students with real life experience of working as a professional photographer and responding to a brief.
The entries will be judged by St. Modwen Homes’ representatives and academic staff from Warwickshire College in early January, with the winners being announced at a special presentation event at Edison Place.
The winner will have their photo printed onto a canvas, which will be permanently displayed in the Edison Place marketing suite, and will receive specialist photography equipment valued at £250. As a thank you for taking part, each student will also receive a signed certificate of participation from St. Modwen Homes for their portfolios.
New homes are currently for sale at Edison Place, starting in price from £219,995 for a two storey, three bedroom property, up to £285,000 for a three storey, four bedroom detached family home. All the homes are available under the Government’s equity loan scheme, Help to Buy, under which purchasers require a deposit of just five per cent. Proving popular, over 25 per cent of the homes have already sold from plan at the development
Located on Technology Drive, Edison Place is being delivered by St. Modwen’s housebuilding business, St. Modwen Homes and is part of St. Modwen’s larger mixed-use development, which is already home to the £33 million Warwickshire College. When complete, the first phase of St. Modwen Homes’ Edison Place development will boast 87 properties, including a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes as well as shops and other local amenities –including a Hungry Horse restaurant. A planning application has recently been submitted by St. Modwen for 10,000 sq m of retail space off Leicester Road.
