St. Modwen has submitted two planning applications for up to 335 homes, a new community centre and more public open space on land at East Works Drive, in Cofton Hackett, Longbridge.
A planning application has been submitted on behalf of St. Modwen and its housebuilding business, St. Modwen Homes, for 185 new properties on the southern part of the site, whilst a further application has also been made for 150 homes and a 4,100 sq ft multi-purpose community centre on the site adjacent to Groveley Lane.
The new developments will comprise a mix of family homes in a variety of styles. The proposals also include new pedestrian links to the wider area, supporting infrastructure and landscaping.
Steve Prosser, Regional Director at St. Modwen, said: “This further phase of new family homes marks another step in the ongoing regeneration of the former Longbridge complex and will provide a mix of new homes together with extensive public open space and will see the delivery of a new community facility for the Parish Council.
“With 229 new homes delivered at Longbridge East through the St. Modwen and Persimmon joint venture, and work well underway on 41 new properties at St. Modwen Homes’ Cofton Grange development, these latest applications will enable us to bring forward more high-quality homes in Cofton Hackett.”
The properties will form part of St. Modwen’s £1 billion regeneration of Longbridge, one of the largest regeneration schemes in the Midlands that, when complete, will provide a total of 2,000 new homes, of which over 350 have already been delivered.
Within the broader development, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist has delivered a £100 million town centre, new offices, the £66m Bournville College, Longbridge Technology Park and the three acre Austin Park.
Construction is well underway on a 180 bedroom accommodation building near the town centre for the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM), which will house military medical staff working at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, whilst the £35 million Longbridge Retirement Village is due to open in 2017.
