Planning sought for first phase of Hilton Business Park
St Modwen Developments Ltd, the development subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC, has submitted a planning application for a 6,503 sq m ( 70,000 sq ft ) manufacturing and logistics centre – the first phase of new construction on its 70-acre Hilton Business Park, Derbyshire.
The proposed building, which would include 557 sq m ( 6,000 sq ft ) two-storey offices, is for an European-owned occupier which is seeking to relocate from existing premises in Derby.
Paul Smith of St Modwen, said: “The development will bring in excess of £3 million investment into Hilton and create up to 80 new jobs. This is the first new building for employment use that will be developed on the former Ministry of Defence site. alongside the existing business park premises. We are delighted to be bringing forward this proposal and hope that it will be the catalyst for further future investment and jobs in Hilton.”
The Hilton mixed-use project, begun in 1993 when St Modwen and the Ministry of Defence joined forces for the redevelopment of the former Central Vehicle Storage Depot , will on completion have created more than 1,200 homes, 70-acres of employment development totalling more than 92,900 sq m (one million sq ft), a new district centre, a village by-pass, plus sports, schools and community facilities.
